Over the course of the fall semester, the City of Newton, through the Hometown Pride program, partnered with the Iowa State University Landscape Design Studio to develop concepts for the three acre greenspace between DMACC’s Newton campus and the recently-acquired DMACC Maytag Campus. The class, which was composed of senior and graduate students, brought energy and excitement to the project, developing many creative ideas on how to transform the area into an accessible, vibrant community event and park space.

Students presented their ideas in a salon-style format on December 9th, and Newton has been given a portfolio of design concepts that are available for further development.
