What is your favorite summer activity in Newton and why?

“My favorite summer activity is riding bikes to the arboretum with my wife and two children (ages 9 and 2). We load our two year old up in the bike trailer and hit the trails. We are fortunate to live rather close and will often stop to watch a baseball game along the way. The kids especially enjoy getting their feet wet in the creek and checking out all the fish in the fish pond. ”

“I love walking around the arboretum and enjoying the beautiful flowers, shrubs, and butterflies. Our children, Emily and Jack along with our daycare kiddos especially enjoy feeding the fish and watching the tadpoles change into frogs! We always end the day with a game of tag while jumping from stone to stone in the little brook. It’s the perfect place to relax, read a book, take a bike ride, and just enjoy time together.”

“There are so many fun things to do in Newton during the summer. My family enjoys taking the plunge at Maytag Pool, seeing all the flowers at Agnes Patterson and watching baseball games at Woodland Park. Cardinal Corner is always a hit! Superman ice cream is the best!”

“One of my favorite childhood memories was getting Daiquiri Ice ice cream at the Newton Baskin Robbins, with my sister, aunt and uncle on our weekend visits to Newton. Now my family and I love going to Cardinal Corner and enjoying the variety and delicious ice cream they offer. We all have our favorites. Mine being the strawberry twist or the butter pecan.”
