Why did you choose to live in Newton?

I was born and raised in Newton but I did leave for a while to live elsewhere. I came back to Newton because family is important and they are all still here in Newton. Not only that, but myself and my family have everything we need here including great parks and recreation, amazing schools, and a sense of community. Newton is just the right size so that is has a small town feel but with some bigger city amenities. This also means you can still sign up to volunteer or sit on a non-profit and you can really make a difference and see the results of your work easily. There are so many groups and people doing great things!

What is Newton’s best-kept secret?

Our amazing art! We have so many sculptures and murals as well as some very talented artists housed right here in our community. The art scene is vibrant.

What’s an upcoming project you are excited to work on?

I am very excited to start helping plan and design a new look and function for Sunset Park with the Newton Parks Board and the citizens of Newton.

What do you think people should get to know about Newton?

I think Newton is growing and thriving more than we ever have. Our economic diversity is growing, as well as our younger population of families and entrepreneurs and we have a core group of stakeholders at the helm working together to ensure Newton maintains this momentum well into the future.

How is Newton preparing for the future?

Newton is always taking steps to grow. That includes planning future housing developments, attracting companies to relocate here, supporting our local business owners, small and large, with programs to help them maintain a great workforce, and always working together. We have major stakeholders all working together to keep our community thriving. Collaboration is the key to keeping us relevant and thriving.
