Newton is home to Iowa Speedway and the race weekends are just around the corner. We have eight tips for anyone who is planning to attend their first, or 25th, race.

#1 – Arrive early!

Allow plenty of time for travel and traffic, and you will be rewarded with a better parking spot (and more time for tailgating).

#2 – Obey the traffic control officers!

They are there for your safety and convenience, and will get you to where you need to go in the most efficient manner possible

#3 – Don’t forget the sunscreen.

You’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors, so apply sunscreen early and often – especially on children – and even on “cloudy” days.

#4 – Stroll through the concourse.

There are lots of fun things to do, see, and buy on the concourse behind the grandstands, including delicious food and drink, track souvenirs, and all kinds of apparel.

#5 – Get to know your neighbors.

Introduce yourself to the folks sitting around you in the grandstands. Race fans are the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, and even if it’s your first time to Iowa Speedway, the “veterans” will be happy to tell you all about it!

#6 – Buy a fan walk pass!

For just $10, you can get “up close and personal” with the infield action! . You can check out the cars, fill up at the concession stands and even watch the post-race celebrations!

#7 – Attend the autograph session.

Check the race day schedule for details, and be sure to be in line for an opportunity to meet and greet your favorite drivers..

#8 – Rock out at a post-race concert!

Stick around after the first night of racing and attend the NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series at Iowa Speedway. With three concerts this race season featuring country artist Easton Corbin, grunge-punk trio Everclear and “The American Band” Grand Funk Railroad.
