  • Newton Arboretum and Historic Maytag Park

    The Newton Arboretum and Botanical Gardens features 150 species of trees, a butterfly garden, a pond, several flower beds and numerous sculptures.  Historic Maytag Park serves as a beautiful setting for enjoying the outdoors, with plenty to do – features at this park include a bandshell, bike trails, a disc golf course, a pool, tennis courts, playground equipment and more.

  • Valle Drive-In

    Newton, Iowa is home to one of the only drive-in theaters left in the state. Come experience the nostalgia of a simpler time by taking in a double feature. The Valle is open from April through October. (Not interested in nostalgia? Drive-ins are also the only place you can tweet, talk or text as you wish without getting in trouble!)

  • Iowa Speedway

    Check out the fastest, loudest, most exciting races in Iowa at the Iowa Speedway! The racetrack, which was recently purchased by NASCAR, hosts races from May to August.

  • Thunder Nites

    The Newton, Iowa downtown square becomes alive with bikes, bands, food, and beverages the second Friday of each month, May through September.

  • Newton Fest

    A celebration of all things Newton! This community festival is held annually in June.

  • July 4th Parade and Fireworks

    Celebrate the 4th in Newton, Iowa! Join us for a celebration on the downtown square with games, performances, food and a parade. At dusk, head to Agnes Patterson Park for a fireworks display.

  • Bowlful of Blues

    This annual blues festival, held in historic Maytag Park, brings international touring blues-based artists from across the country to the heart of Iowa. This destination music festival also features eclectic food options, silents auctions, guitar raffles, and art vendors.

  • Maytag Dairy Farm

    Maytag Dairy Farm offers year-round tours of their facility, where they make world-renowned blue cheese. When you go, be sure to ask for a sample!

  • Courthouse Lighting and Lighted Christmas Parade

    This holiday celebration features the lighting of the historic Jasper County Courthouse. Bundle up and head to the downtown square for this event, which is held on the Friday following Thanksgiving.
